Station History UGFM first came about in October 1994 when our first low power, mono transmission took place on 98.9 MHz within the town of Alexandra.   The test permit allowed the station to broadcast each weekend from 7.00am Friday until midnight Sunday.

Entertainment News

On Tuesday, 16th November, 2010 the Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell  MP spoke for some five  minutes on the role of volunteers in his electorate and particularly on Upper Goulburn Community Radio Inc.
Hansard indicates that Mr Mitchell spoke of UGFM`s 16 years of  very successful existence and its recent 16th Birthday celebrations held in conjunction with the launch / opening of the  new UGFM Studios at Marysville held 6th November, 2010.
 The speech in the Federal Parliament covered UGFM`s  role during and after the tragic fires of February and March, 2009 and UGFM`s appearance at The Bushfires Royal Commission during 2009.
Mr Mitchell went onto mention some of the awards etc., UGFM has received in recent times including :-
-The Tony Staley Award for Excellence in Broadcasting, a National award.
-Highly Commended Award at the Victorian Fire Awareness Awards (media) during October, 2010.
-First Australian Community Radio Station to become an official State Emergency Broadcaster.
During the Speech before the House of Representatives at Parliament House, Canberra the Federal Member congratulated UGFM for outstanding service to its community and thanked all involved with the Radio Station.
